You can update the status of referrals to reflect their current state and set outcomes once they are handled. These actions are key to managing referrals effectively, avoiding confusion, and ensuring clear communication among team members.
From Within the Referral
Go to the Referrals tab in the top menu and select your Inbox. Open a referral by clicking it from the list. Then, click Update Status in the top action bar to change the referral's state, such as from Booked/Requested to Received. Once the referral has been dealt with, you can close thee referral by setting the outcome to something like Admitted.
Directly From Your Referral Inbox
Navigate to the Referrals tab in the top menu, and select your Inbox.
Select the More Options button (3-dot menu) of the referral that you wish to set an outcome for.
Select Update Status from the menu.
Select the radio box beside "Closed" in the pop-over that appears.
Indicate the outcome (admitted, no show, wait listed etc.) of the appointment.
Select Save at the bottom.

The outcome can also be set from the Outcome Icon under the Workflow column:
Pro Tip: You may choose more than one outcome for a referral. Simply select 'Add Another Outcome' before you save.
From the Calendar
Select the booked appointment from the calendar and Set Outcome.
Updating the status of your referrals improves overall referral management, allows you to convey to the sender the state of the referral (only if the sender has a Caredove account) and is a relevant from a reporting perspective as well. The client will not be notified of the changes in the status of their referral.
Note: Setting up a Cancelled status for booked referrals won't actually cancel the client's appointment. For that you would need to use the Unbook function. Learn how to reschedule or cancel booked referrals.
