🔐 Using Passkeys to Sign In to Caredove
Passkeys let you sign in to Caredove quickly and securely — no password required.
They work by storing a secure digital credential (the "passkey") in your browser, password manager, or a security key and use your device’s built-in security (like Face ID, fingerprint, or screen lock) to confirm it’s you. When you visit Caredove, you can use your device's built-in security to login to Caredove instead of a username and password.
Once configured, using passkeys makes sign-in both faster and safer — there’s nothing to remember, nothing to type, and nothing for attackers to steal. They protect you from phishing and credential reuse. Depending on the device/service you use, they usually sync automatically between your trusted devices.
Passkeys are supported by all modern browsers and operating systems, so you can start using them today.
💡 Before you get started
Before creating a passkey, it’s important to know where it will be stored. The most popular options are:
A password manager (e.g., 1Password, Dashlane, Bitwarden, etc...): |
Apple Keychain: |
Google Password Manager: |
Windows Hello:
|
A USB Security Key: |
It is recommended to contact your IT department, which may have a preferred method for you to store your passkeys.
Note that if you use more than one of these options, you will (usually) be presented with them in a priority order, with the next option appearing AFTER you reject the presented option.
For example, if you you 1Password on a Mac and Chrome, you will first be offered the option to store you passkey in 1Password. If you cancel out of that option you will be offered Apple Keychain, then Google Password Manager or a Security key.
➕ How to Add a Passkey for Caredove
You can add one or more passkeys to your Caredove account.
Each passkey is tied to a specific device.
Sign in to your Caredove account.
Go to My Account → Passkeys.
Click Add Passkey.
Name your passkey (for example, "1Password", “Work Laptop” or “Phone”).
Your browser will present a screen to store your passkey in its default location (e.g., 1Password, Apple Keychain, Google Password Manager, etc.). Follow the instructions and approve using your device’s Face ID, fingerprint, or screen lock.
Your new passkey will now be saved on that device, and can be used to log into Caredove.
💡 You can repeat these steps to add multiple passkeys — one for each device you use.
🔑 How to Sign In to Caredove with a Passkey
Go to the Caredove Login Page.
Click Login with Passkey.
You may be prompted to use your Face ID, fingerprint, or device PIN.
That’s it — you’re signed in!
If the password manager or browser on the device does NOT have a passkey for the site, then you may be prompted to scan a QR code or USB security key from a device (like a phone) which has a passkey for Caredove. Follow the on screen prompts in the browser to complete this flow.
If your device has multiple passkeys for Caredove (e.g., multiple user accounts), then you may also be prompted to select from them.
🗂️ Managing Your Passkeys
You can manage passkeys under My Account → Passkeys.
From this page, you can:
➕ Add Passkey — create a new one for another device
❌ Delete Passkey — remove access from a lost or unused device
👀 View All Passkeys — see every device that currently has access
Deleting a passkey only removes access from that device.
Your Caredove account remains active, and you can still sign in with your password if needed. You should also go into your device manager and delete the passkey there, as it will no longer function.
💬 Troubleshooting?
When I clicked "Sign in with Passkey" I got a "failed" message
If you've been creating and deleting passkeys, you may have mismatched keys between Caredove and your device. Delete your passkeys in both Caredove and your device, then start again
